What it does
- Real extensions: Chrome, Firefox and Safari WebExtensions, Manifest V2 and V3. uBlock Origin Lite installs in one tap, and Chrome Web Store links and
.crx,.zipand.xpifiles install directly. - Shields: strip tracking parameters from links, skip Google AMP pages, reject cookie banners, and turn on Night Mode for every site.
- Forget This Site removes a site’s cookies and website data, its history and its settings in one step.
- Private tabs never appear in History, and their data is erased when you close the last one.
- Reader view, page translation on your device with Apple’s Translation framework, and printing.
- Tabs: tab groups, a searchable tab switcher, recently closed tabs, and a session that survives closing the app.
- Library: bookmarks and Favorites, a Reading List with offline copies, History, and a downloads manager.
- Easy on memory: only a few tabs (three by default) stay live; the rest rest on disk until you return to them.
- Your layout: the address bar on top or a single bottom bar, a customizable toolbar, themes, accent colors and alternate app icons.
Privacy at a glance
- History, bookmarks, tabs, downloads and website data stay on your device. Sheer has no servers, and the developer can’t see what you browse.
- No sign-up, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or third-party SDKs, and your data is never sold.
- Sheer connects to the websites you visit, to your search engine, and to where you install extensions from. Search suggestions can be turned off.
